WW II Service: Discovering your Ancestor's Story using Online Resources

Military service is an important part of an ancestor’s story. Fortunately, many records exist—but a service record tells only part of that story. Understanding what an ancestor actually experienced adds another dimension. This presentation will focus on World War II service and explore sources and techniques for gathering and analyzing information about both military service and personal experiences. For those researching Army ancestors, we’ll also explore online sources that can help reconstruct information lost in the 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center.

Advance registration is required, even if you registered for the original program. Please visit www.wakecogen.org to register by 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time on November 10. Save your confirmation email with your meeting link and passcode for easy access. The presentation will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The program will be recorded, and the recording will be available to WCGS members only for 30 days following the presentation.

Please note: This presentation was rescheduled from 27 October 2026, due to technical issues.
