As your newly elected President, I want to reach out to you to say “hello” and to personally thank you for your membership and participation in the Wake County Genealogical Society.
I am very grateful to have the opportunity to lead such a wonderful organization! I have worked with the Society and Board for several years (joining the WCGS was one of the first things I did when I became an empty nester!) and have such respect and admiration for the contributions our members consistently make to the preservation of our families’ history.
My own family has lived in Wake County and surrounding areas since prior to the American Revolution. I can truly say I live in the land of my ancestors here in northern Wake County. I have researched my family for over 30 years inheriting a hobby my father cherished.
From the transcription of records to learning more about the ever-evolving world of DNA, the Wake County Genealogical Society has its fingers in both history and scientific innovation. We are so pleased to have you along with us on this fascinating journey!
Carla Stancil, President WCGS
