At some point in time, the files for St. Matthews township suffered some extreme water exposure and damage. The binder was still damp (after many years) when we first started working with the files. An archivist was consulted, and Lynne Deese took great pains to remediate both the mold and the damage done by it. You will see the damage that was caused, but through various techniques, Lynne was able to get images that were very readable. Within each township, find File 01 and read that first. There are important tips that are standard to the project and township specific exceptions are noted. Take notice of the names mentioned in the miscellaneous folder which could not be placed otherwise. Please note OCR was attempted, but due to the predominate use of handwriting and old manual typewriters, very little OCR was achieved. Dust off those search skills.
